Offshore Georgia Hope Spot - VIP Press Launch
MISSION BLUE CORDIALLY REQUEST YOUR PRESENCE TO DESIGNATE THE GEORGIA CONTINENTAL SHELF AND BLAKE PLATEAU AN INTERNATIONAL HOPE SPOT. THE RSVP EVENT IS BEING HELD AT THE GEORGIA AQUARIUM. Local Coastal Georgia ocean advocates, Paulita Bennett-Martin, Angela Hariche, and Simona Perry, came together in 2019 to seek designation of Georgia's offshore waters as an international Hope Spot, featuring globally important ecosystems, boasting world class resources for recreation, and with vital connections to Georgia's coastal culture. Led by legendary oceanographer Dr. Sylvia Earle, Mission Blue is uniting a global coalition to inspire an upwelling of public awareness, access and support for a worldwide network of marine protected areas through a scientific selection process for designating Hope Spots. On October 10th, Georgia will become a proud new home to the newest international Hope Spot. We hope you will join us to celebrate this global distinction.
