Kennesaw Mountain: Beyond the War

Tuesday, May 7, 2019, 2:00 AM

You’ve probably already heard stories about the role Kennesaw Mountain played during the Civil War. There are many more tales to tell, however, about things that have happened on the mountain.
In conjunction with the Georgia Room, join us for First Mondays in the Georgia Room as we welcome Junior Historian Andrew Bramlett as he shares stories of events that took place, and some that were planned and never took place, both prior to the war and afterwards. Stories will include the Native American presence, a resort during the 1850’s, planned statues that never happened, a huge peach orchard, a small plane crash and more.
Thirteen year old Andrew Bramlett is a native of Cobb County and is currently the vice president of the Kennesaw Historical Society and an Honorary member of the Cemetery Preservation Commission for the City of Kennesaw. He is a volunteer at the Kennesaw Parks and Recreation Department for their special events and volunteers at Kennesaw Mountain where he leads hikes and is a guide on the weekend shuttle.
