Face to Face Women's Conference
Friday night 7pm-9:30pm Night of Worship/Prayer and Book signing Saturday 9am-4pm Face to Face Conference (healthy lunch will be provided) Join us for this intimate event with speaker and author, Jen Baker, as she explores how we can deepen our relationship with God in her new book Face to Face, releasing this October. Life lessons from Moses – exploring intimacy with God.‘While sitting in my lounge doing devotions, I noticed that in Exodus 3 it said “Moses hid his face” and in Exodus 33 he spoke with God “face-to-face”. I began to wonder: how does one go from hiddenness to holiness?’ Having noticed the transformation that this key biblical figure goes through during Exodus, Jen Baker wanted to know more about the process; what was it that meant Moses came to be face to face with God? In hiddenness, Moses did not want to be seen by or interact with God, so he retreated. But he went on a journey of intimacy, causing him to shed his reservations and grew to trust God enough to show his face. In her latest book, Jen Baker skilfully uses the example of Moses as the basis for discussing both the topic of intimacy within Scripture, as well as how we as modern Christians can develop our relationship with God.Jen Baker also shares her own moving personal testimony of her long journey to intimacy with God through the book. Having been abused as a child, her story is a poignant reminder that moving towards intimacy requires courage as we step out in faith and put our trust in our perfect Father. By interweaving these modern-day examples, Baker demonstrates that life’s challenges are experienced by all, regardless of one’s timeframe. But just as challenging circumstances are universal, so is the potential for us to view our hardships as opportunities to come to know God more intimately, just as Moses did. With the story of Moses as a guide, Baker shows the reader how they too can come to a place of holiness and peace in their own lives. Face to Face can show us all how to develop our relationship with God through the example of Moses, whether we feel distant from God, or already have a relationship with him.‘This side of heaven will always have challenges, but a journey out of hiddenness and fear into holiness and love can be created by placing the shattered pieces of our hearts into a beautiful mosaic of redemption and grace’. ‘God in heaven is stretching out his hand, eyes dancing with the light of love, heart filled with expectation and desire, saying to you: “May I have this dance?” ______________________________________________________________________________________ Jen Baker has a passion to see the kingdom of God lived out through ordinary people in an extraordinary way. Most often described as ‘inspiring’ Jen loves to breathe life and hope wherever she goes, seeing a faith atmosphere open blind eyes and restore broken dreams. She was heavily involved in anti-trafficking work for many years and has a huge heart for the orphan. She is an AmeriBrit, a bit of a coffee snob (more than a bit) and a lover of Jesus who likes to keep fit...while enjoying good chocolate and a sneaky ice cream. As a single adult, Jen relates easily with the one who feels life has turned out slightly differently than planned. She may get a dog one day, but it must be small enough to fit into a handbag. Jen lives in Bath, England and is actively involved at Bath City Church.
