The Consulate General of Canada in Atlanta in partnership with Export Development Canada and the Metro Atlanta Chamber presents Women in Leadership: Claiming Your Seat, a networking opportunity and conversation about women of colour at the C-suite and Executive levels and the challenges to advancing true diversity in leadership in the workplace. Our panelists will have a frank discussion about diversity and inclusion in the workplace and what global organizations can do to help women of colour claim their seat at the table.  PROGRAM 6:30 — 7:15 p.m. Reception with cocktails and hors d’oeuvres 7:30 — 8:45 p.m. Panel discussion and Q&A 8:50 — 9:20 p.m. Minda Harts' The Memo book signing, coffee & dessert  PANELISTS Minda Harts, Author & Founder, The Memo LLC The Memo is the much-needed career advice guide for women of color specifically, finally ending the one-size-fits-all approach of business books that lump together women across races and overlook the unique barriers to success for women of color. In a charismatic and relatable voice, Minda Harts brings her entrepreneurial experience as CEO of The Memo to the page, as well as her past career life as a fundraising consultant to top colleges across the country. She will be signing copies of The Memo which will be available for purchase before and after the panel discussion. Nzinga Shaw, SVP, Chief Diversity & Inclusion Officer, Atlanta Hawks She is the first person to hold the CDIO position in the National Basketball Association and for all 122 North American professional sports teams. Shaw serves as a member of the Executive Committee and provides guidance to the leadership team to engender inclusion in every facet of the business. Shaw has developed a strategy to embed equity in all programmatic activities, governance and daily administration of the organization.  Dr. Kamau Bobb, Global Lead for Diversity Strategy and Research, Google He is the founding Senior Director of the Constellations Center for Equity in Computing at Georgia Tech and an engineer and science and technology policy scholar whose work focuses on the relationship between equity for students and communities of color in the STEM enterprise, large educational systems, and the social and structural conditions that influence contemporary American life.  MODERATOR Nadia Theodore, Consul General of Canada in Atlanta Nadia Theodore joined the Canadian civil service in 2000. She has made her career in the Trade Agreement and Negotiations Branch of Global Affairs, holding leadership positions on several recent and major trade initiatives of Global Affairs Canada, including serving as one of the two Deputy Chief Negotiators for the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership and as the Executive Director of Canada’s Secretariat for the Canada-European Union Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement. Consul General Theodore was appointed in 2017 for a four-year tour. Please register.
