2019 K-9 Workshop - Greensboro, GA

The National Criminal Enforcement Association (NCEA), in conjunction with the Custom Canine Unlimited and Greene County Sheriff's Office, GA are presenting some first rate and affordable training at our “2019 K-9 Workshop,” October 1-2, 2019 in Greensboro, GA.   This extensive training workshop is for all K-9 Handlers. The cost for this training opportunity will be $250.00 for 2 days.  Course Description: K-9 handlers and their partners play a huge part in Criminal Interdiction and patrol work.  K-9 handlers are usually either called to assist with a traffic stop, search warrant of houses, buildings and other dwellings. Almost all the time they are called to assist without knowing anything other than "we need you to run your dog".   This K-9 course is designed to introduce K-9 handlers to obstacles that they may run into while deploying their K-9 partners in these situations. Handlers will be introduced to obstacles that they may encounter when deploying their partners to large vehicles such as, tractor trailers, buses and U-Hauls. Handles will be taught how to deploy their partners in productive areas to get their partners into odor. Handlers will also receive a class on Commercial 101, which will be taught by a member of the Georgia Department of Public Safety Motor Carrier Compliance Division. This class will be what you can and can't stop tractor trailers for.   The importance of K-9 Training Records will also be discussed. Handlers will be taught important information that is a must in all training records. Handlers will also will be taught how to conduct a traffic stop, laws pertaining to the deployment of the K-9, what is needed for federal prosecution and preparing for federal courtroom testimony, from an Assistant U.S. Attorney from the Middle District of Georgia.   Instructors for this class will be, Master Trainer A.J. Vargas of Custom Canine Unlimited. K-9 Trainer Robby McCannon with the Greene County Sheriff's Office's K-9 Unit. MCCD Josh Copelan with the Georgia Department of Public Safety. An AUSA from the Middle District of Georgia. All instructors have a combined 75 years of experience in Law Enforcement. Day 1 will consist of a 4 hour block introducing the K-9 to commercial motor vehicles (tractor trailer)and working through obstacles with the commercial vehicle. We will be working on ways to best utilize the K-9 also.  There will be a 2 hour block on working with buses and introducing the K-9 to the bus. We will be working on distractions and ways to best utilize the K-9.  There will also be a block on problem solving with the K-9 Day 2  will consist of a block with the U.S. Attorney from the Middle District. The U.S. Attorney will be discussing the traffic stop, the use of the K-9 preparing for trial.  We will finish up with a block on U-Hauls and the problems they can cause K-9 officers.
